Students specialise in painting (furniture, thangkas – painted religious pictures, usually on canvas), woodcarving (masks, statues, bowls), embroidery (hangings, boots, clothes) or statue-making (clay). Folk Heritage Museum This museum provides glimpse into the traditional Bhutanese life. The artifacts which are kept inside the house remind the visitors about how the rural Bhutanese live today.

We head back towards Thimphu stopping by the important cultural, historical and natural sites enroute. Packed lunch is again prepared for the journey. The first stop is at Gantey Gompa (monastery) perched atop a small hill that arises from the floor of Phobjika Valley. The valley of Phobjika, home of the migratory black-necked crane is one of the most beautiful spots in Bhutan. We will drive towards Punakha Check in at your hotel for overnight stay.

We take a morning drive to Punakha the old capital of Bhutan to visit Punakha Dzong (fort) built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, the most famous name in Bhutanese history.

Enroot visit Chimi Lhakhang, the auspicious fertility monastery built in 1949. Walk through paddy and mustard fields of the temples, which is located on top of a small hill. After Lunch proceeding to Thimphu over the Dochu La pass where we stop for some tea and view the eastern Himalayas. Druk Wangyal Chortens. This hill of 108 religious buildings in the middle of the pass reflects Bhutan’s spiritual and artistic traditions. Continue your drive to Punakha Valley. We return to Paro in the evening. Check in at your hotel for overnight stay.

You will have an early breakfast and walk about 2 hours to Taktshang Monastery perched giddily on a rocky ledge, with a waterfall cascading as if from the blue. Taktshang means ‘Tiger’s Nest’. Guru Padmasambhava, known as the Second Buddha, alighted from flying tigress and meditated at this shrine in the second half of the 8th century. As a result, it is the dream destination for Buddhist pilgrims from the world over. If desired, pony ridings would be arranged. Way back, visit Drukgyel Dzong, a victory fortress of the 17th century. Although in ruins, this Dzong is preserved for its great historical importance.
